Hello guys, Im Max from Barcelona city (Spain) :D.
Ok I just recovered from the basement on Apple Macintosh Plus computer that father used back in 1987. I know how my father loved that Plus so I want to restore and put this beauty back for him, my fathers die in 2008, he was a mac user like me and it's really important for me to get back this computer. So here is the situation, and hope you could help me (by the way sorry about my english level it's so poor :-):
1. About the cosmetic of the computer: I just restored the back case of the computer using this video tips: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ewI7nMgrB8&feature=related , and the results are tremendous!!! I love how looks the case without the yellow feeling. Now I don't know if it's possible to disassemble the front of the computer without damaging the crt screen? a friend suggested me to disassemble the entire machine, but I'm afraid to do that cause I don't have experience in computer reparations :-(. I followed this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qKcQp88ya_0 in order to proceed and restore the back panel. ¿Do you know if there's any video showing how to remove the front panel of the Apple Plus?.
2. Ok about functionality: First I got a new system floppy disk on http://rescuemyclassicmac.com/ but when I tried to turn on for the computer i noticed that the computer does the classic start-up noise and then NOTHING happens :-(... i thought maybe would be an issue with the 4.5 V / 523 battery in the back, so I purchased one from Ebay ( but it's on my ay so I hope to get the battery in a bout 3 or 5 days)... So I would let you know if the battery replacement resolve the issue. But can you give me your opinion/inputs?... another strange thing is... I tried to put the diskette in the floppy unit but the floppy unit just make a little noise and then ejected the diskette... any ideas?
By the way I would really appreciate if you could help me and send me info about all of the issues of the Apple Macintosh Plus, i really want to rich the goal and get back this mac to a new live :D.
Thank you so much!!!

You may need to lubracate the Disk Drive. Old ones the lubes dry out and harden causing this fault. Also, see the following for more drive tips.
And go ahead and take apart your machine for cleaning, I always do when I get a new old machine in. Old Macs are a snap to take apart and back together.
Thanks Patrick I would do that this weekend :D
Well guys bad news... I changed the 4.5 volts battery and nothing... the Mac plus makes the classic start-up BOING sound, but I can't see anything in the screen :S... any ideas ?
If you got the Bong, then the digial card should be alright. It may be a problem on the analog card. I would look there for damaged capacitors, a common Apple problem. Just be sure to properly discharge the Flyback before poking around the High Voltage stuff. Oh did you use the programmer switches to force the Pram to do a hard reset? Sometimes you have to do that after putting in a new battery.
first, look at the analog board - solder side
all solder points must be good
if necessary resolder all points
Hello guys, thanks for your help!!! I find it the issues... check the attached picture, you will understand why the video is dead on my plus, by the way the motherboard it's ok, I got also de BOING startup sound :D.
Thanks a lot, I will check this out and get back to you with the results next week :D
