I have used these trype adapters withj a 8gb cf card on a 5500 and Starmax just be warned sometimes the build quality is sub par. and you may need soldering skills to fix the solder work.
i bought 10 of them, i post when they come in let me know, anyone who says they want one can have one from me.
Now If I could just find a reasonably priced IDE to SCSI bridge...
Again, why CompactFlash?
CF cards can directly emulate ide mode which removes costly hardware. And can be faster than legacy ide hard drives. They alsio use less power and can have significantly faster seek times.
It could be because the vast majority of them aren't actually disks. But it is convenient to store things like a disk when the machine can only address a few megs.
As far as I know, System 7 Macs can address a maximum of 2 gigs… It's easier to find a 2GB SD card than it is to find a 2 GB CF card…
