Comment by GDB on October 1, 2011 at 1:03pm Mine runs a dual 500MHz G4 from a tower. Runs very well, but requires additional cooling in the form of a fan placed beneath the unit. This forces air up through the entire assembly, which cools not only the processor, but also the Radeon 7500 graphics card that I popped in there. So i decided not to opt for the standard basefan installation.
One of my future projects will be to construct a suitable wooden enclosure to hide the fan, a sort of Cube stand.
Comment by familyguy9877 on December 24, 2011 at 12:17pm so, the processor you are using is from a regular sawtooth PowerMac?
Comment by GDB on December 24, 2011 at 1:38pm I think it was from an AGP Graphics machine. There is some surgery needed, including a shim to make contact between the heatsink and the processors, but it works just fine. It hasn't crashed once in many months of use.
The fan for cooling is critical.
