To Birddog 10: worse case is you have to pull the hd out and put it in a mac that has a dvd drive in it and install 10.3 then put back in imac after. If you have an external hd case that uses firewire put it in that and install 10.3 to the drive through another computer. Other than these suggestions you need an internal dvd drive or cds for the 10.3. I am sure you have the problem solved by now.

I was recently gifted my first iMac G3. It is a graphite 600 Mhz. A friend of mine had been taking great care of it for years but needed to free up some space. I just bought an Airport Card (with adapter) on Ebay. I plan to upgrade the ram to 1gb. It cam pre-loaded with 10.2. Does anyone have advice about how to get a copy of 10.3 on CD? All of my copies are DVD.

I'm going to drive to a nearby village to collect 3 'mystery spec' iMac G3s. Maybe they'll be really early models and I'll finally be forced to get my feet wet with OS9 :)

I have a 350Mhz Blueberry iMac running 10.4.11 in my daughter's bedroom. We bought it in 2000 and it works great. The only things I did to it over the years was to change the hard drive for an 80Gb one, and max out the memory to 1Gb.

I joined this group immediately after Michael did. My two iMacs G3 are from the other, the lower end; one 266MHz, CD-drawer, 9.2.1, 160MB RAM, 4GB and a 350MHz, 9.2.2, 128MB RAM and 6GB, CD-slot-in. I will put in larger disks in soon. They are beautiful but so limited ! No SCSI, no burner or any other back-up media come with them! I failed in making an external DVD running, RW burners do. They were very, very cheap - together with two of the same kind each they were less than U$ 50. I was given one as a hopeless because of an empty battery for about 5$ - so I took it.
I really like having them all.

Hey I just found this group and since I love those old imacs decided to join. I have a 700 mhz snow SE with a gig of ram, 160 G hd (128 g only recognized of coarse), and a super drive ( why? Because I could). It is now operating as my back up computer, juke box, internet radio, and fax machine. Photos or video of it will come in the near future or you can go to my YouTube site www.youtube.com/NorCalExplorer and see a quick video I did of it. Great group and hope to hear a lot from it.

I got my original 233MHz Bondi from eBay about 3 years ago for $15 and was lucky that the seller was local. I was able to get it without paying for shipping. To this day it is the best deal I ever got and one of my favorite Macs.

I got my first iMac in 2006. I was 14 at the time. It was the original Bondi Blue color. Still have it and still works. I also got a Graphite iMac G3 this year as an early birthday present as a backup machine, but I ended up using both as main Macs instead. Both iMacs run different versions of OS X. The Bondi Blue one I have is running OS X 10.2.8 and my Graphite iMac is running OS 10.4.11.

i bought an imac g3 bondi back in 2006 on ebay and shipped it through usps, trying to save a few bucks. not a good idea, they managed to crack the case in 3 different places and wouldnt accept the warranty as valid. even with the cracks, i still love the computer. almost 10 years old and runs perfectly, despite years of hell in an elementary school.
