Weird dead SE/SE30 power supply and/or analog board problem I'm having. It just suddenly quit working. a few days later, it comes back to life! No sign of connection shorting, etc. Anyone else have this problem?

The SE holds a special part in my love for Apple computers because it was my first Mac (SE FDHD).
Today, I own 2 SE (only one works - mint condition), and a SE FDHD transformed into a fish tank.

I too got all of my compact macs on eBay. Except for a mac plus that I found abandoned in my apartment floors trash room. My classic compact macs: Two Se/30's, Mac +, and a Mac Color classic. All of which work, some better than others though... one se/30 is having a slow warmup video issue.

I bought my SE in 1999 at a spring rummage sale that my local college was having. (Hey! I've owned it for 10 years now! Cool!) It was sitting there all alone, a dual 800k floppy with 1mb RAM and keyboard. I liberated for $20 USD. I brought it home and turned it on. It fired up, though it blinked a question mark inside a floppy icon.

Turns out it didn't have a hard drive and I didn't have the install disks for System 6 or 7 at the time. It didn't have a mouse, so I had to purchase a Kensington ADB/USB mouse. I later acquired a set of System 6 boot disks from a former employer and later installed an internal 1GB HDD.

The logic board's ADB ports suddenly stopped working, so instead of trying to fix it, I bought an SE/30 logic board from a member of the 68kmla (Thank you again, MacG4! It still works great!). I upgraded to 8mb RAM and installed a 1.44mb SuperDrive floppy from a dead Centris. It now runs System 7.0.1 with loads of apps I found online.

I plan on installing some form of UNIX for this little beast and see what I can really do with that kind of power.

I bought my Mac SE FDHD in 1990 for $1500 at the Sight and Sound at Patch Barracks, Stuttgart, Germany. Seemed like a real deal then. I still have it, although I haven't fired it up for years. I remember using CompuServe on a 14,400 modem, and thinking how fast it was then! I maxed the RAM (4Mb) and installed a processor upgrade card. My favorite timewasters were Klondike, Gunshy and SimAnt.

FYI, toaster Macs, mainly Mac Pluses, were used on SIMNET (the granddaddy of all networked simulation) as command and control consoles, artillery placement tools and more.

Hello, i am from Brasil and dont have one SE but i will, i find one if 2 drives and no HD.
The mac SE is great!
