Actually, I have 2 Performas. One of them is a Performa 410, very rare Performa pizza box machine, and a 630CD. They're both very clean and still work.
Performa 200, 400, 450, 475, 5200 CD, 5320CD, 5400 beige and the black one, 580CD, 630, 6320, 6400/200, 6400/20 with sonnet crescendo G3 400MHz, all working fine and in great condition
and more then one of each model (except of the 580, only one)
I have a Performa 200. It is actually the first Mac I ever owned, but not the first one I ever used. I bought it third-hand from a co-worker about 10 years ago for $50.
That's a good way to improve the Performa-nce.
A board out of a 6500 performs a little bit better (millions of colours onscreen, speed up to 275 MHz, maybe 300).
Is it difficult to get Apple parts where you live?
Well, there is one German song saying: we all live in America :D
So the parts for my iMacs and even Performa could be found on eBay or somewhere else on the internet.
The thing is, I did not continue to build up my Performa since I have new better Macs to use. Performa is there just like the monument of great past , but I do keep "her" working and I did change the pram battery ;)
I have two 5200CD. One has that logic board problem (never replaced in warranty...), is a parts machine.
The other one... is my TV, as it has a TV tuner card, a 60 GB hard drive, Ethernet, maxed up RAM and all the goods. Really nice machine :).
At least there are seven: a 450, two 475, 630 DOS Compatible, a 5200/75 and a 5300 (94MHz - believe it or not).
But what makes a Performa a Performa ?
There are a few of the 5xxx series, best of them is a black Performa 5400/180 G3 (Sonnet - 300 MHz) -
it is a Performa, but comes up as a PowerPC, too. This is the one to complete to seven.
Again - this model may stand for the confusion about the names.
My 6100/66 is a PowerMac, but not a Performa.
It was hard to get an adaptor for the monitor, but it runs its 7.6.1 pretty fine.
