Before I bought a MacBook Air, my PowerBook 12" was my favorite thing in the whole world.

I went to the 'insanelymac'-forum where I received an address to download a detailed description, "How To Open A PB 1400" as a PDF. Here it is:

Thanks to Bruce.
For those who do not dare such a massive decompilation of a computer he has put all you can say about it in just one sentence: "Removing the battery means removing everything but the battery" - 'cause changing the speaker brings you quite close to this item and it makes sense to change it then, too.

The speakers in the 1400s are the only thing that really lets them down - the one in my 1400c is rubbish. Apple obviously made up for this with the PowerBook 3400c which had no fewer than four internal speakers!

Half a GHz sounds great Lars! :)
There's 133 mhz of raw ppc power in my PB1400c btw.

And now there's the wrong sign on the monitor's mask...
Worst thing is a rotten speaker in the cs/133. Even with the help i received this is going to be a job for hours and hours!
Speaking of cars I know that, too. From '84-'91 I had five of one model to drive three of them...
And my books have about half a GHz, doesn't that sound good, Claes ?

Lars, Sorry to hear about the "cannibalism" of the PB.

Reminds me of my brother who kept an old Triumph 60s TR4 "carcass" around so he could replace parts on his TR4 that was running.

Sometimes you have do what you have to do.

I have a PowerBook 1400c and a 1,25Ghz Alu G4.

Bad news to all the memers here (Hi, members!) Last night this world lost one PB 1400/133. I was in desperate need for some parts to distribute to the other four. So I purchased this /133 just to slaughter it. The "c" needed a display in the first place, it's brilliant now. No RAMs, but a monitorcard was in that - luckily I got a cable for an external just this weekend, I'm curiously expecting its arrival.
No big battery at all, so the internal cannot be saved - the case is nice and the original black lid is unscratched. No CD. But what do you expect for far less than ~U$ 20 ?
