Earlier Performas have better built-in sound systems,
my 6500 with the famous subwoofer makes a PC-user frighten at startup.

But this is a bit strange: the digital audio do not have an audio in...

I installed teh 10.5 leopard on my 466 MHz digital audio, its have the original 128 ATI videocard, but the Leopard working. Ok, a bit lagging sometimes, but still.

My G4 DA was a monster machine at its time, best to get; today it has two hard disks (40/80 GB), Zip and a multiformat burner, 1 GB of RAM.
You're absolutely right - they are disturbingly loud.
It's always a pleasure to shut it down.

I have a PowerMac G4 Quicksilver 2001, 733mhz G4, 768MB Ram, 40GB HDD, 32MB GEFORCE 2, wonderful machine, im planning on replacing the cpu fan as its kinda noisey, after cleaning this machine inside and out it looks really good.

Recently improved my G4's performance with ATI graphics 32MB for € 1, now it offers me GoogleEarth - impossible with 16MB.
Substituted the white Apple ProMouse by a 2-button-and-wheel mouse found on a flee market (PC-USB - € 1 as well); a nice progress towards user friendlyness.

I am a proud ower of a Yikes, a Sawtooth and a Gigabit Ethernet. They all have 400 MHz CPUs and 1 GB RAM. The Gigabit Ethernet is running Leopard thanks to the Tool "LeopardAssist". Leopard runs slightly slower on this Machines than Tiger if you have a good Graphic-Card (if you have a stock ATI Rage 128 or Radeon without CoreImage and OpenGL support, forget about installing Leopard. It is too slow). I used a PC Version of a XFX 5400 and flash it with a Mac-Firmware.

Current project: transform the 2001 Quicksilver that got me through college into its ultimate form. No need to completely max out everything, but I'm going nuts in a few places. Also some subtle case mods, keeping original spirit of the beautiful Quicksilver design. Does anyone else remember the Nitro-Burnin' Funny Macs feature in MacAddict?

So far...
replaced 733 G4 with dual 800s
fast combo drive from a MDD
5.1 surround sound with M-Audio card
USB 2 card
1.5 GB of (supposedly) fast memory
300 GB (at 10,000 rpm!) through a Sonnet card
trying to get Radeon X850 to work, but no luck yet!

Sure, many later Macs can outperform even a hot-rod G4, but it's rewarding to see its potential unfold now that some of these parts are affordable.

My Quicksilver's logic board died, I now have a Mirror G4 and very happy with how quietly it runs.

In answer to Dana_W :

My Cube PowerMac is running with a single volume of 160 GB disk (yes, bigger than 128 GB), thanks to a script that I found at The Mac Elite forum (which is sadly down). There is a similar information here and here.

It works fine except:
* Only works with OS X (no System 9)
* the big disk needs to be blank before the trick (or it will be erased)
* If you zap the PRAM, you will not be able to access the information on your disk... until you run the magic trick again.
