Does it sound like an Apple II sound, or something closer to Apple IIGS digitized sound? I can't imagine Apple II sound to be pleasant.

It's closer to IIGS sound... but done well, even the Apple II can produce decent and understandable audio.

Is this booting into an internal drive.. or have you installed a disk at this point (I would assume the BASIC disk)?

This software is burned in ROM on the main board - there are no cartridges inserted.

So ProDOS 8/BASIC is build into ROM. You can insert a RAM disk (Slot 6 drive 5) to save. Am I right?

The built-in firmware is S6D1, and the RAM disk is S6,D2.

OK, that makes sense. To the system, there are 2 floppy disks.
