I'm the proud owner of a Macintosh Portable! Anybody have any tips about where to find batteries?

Hummm,

Well, I rebuild the ones that come with mine.  You'll need 3 Hawker Cyclon 2 volt 5 amp batteries, a little soldering skill and a tad of patence opening up the old pack to get at the guts.  I can usually rebuild one in about 2 hours time.  Alteratively, you can get a 6 volt sealed battery brick and tie the leads to the power hook ups, that works just as well.

I would sooo love to have one of these!!  I think the local gifted program that I went to from 5th-8th grade had one of these, or something vey much like it!  Trackpads were really rare back then, and I remember them having a laptop that had a trackpad, and being really expensive, only the teachers wear really supposed to use it.  They had a lot of Macs there, and I really think the computer I'm talking about was a Mac Portable!!

Mac portable has a trackball. You must be talking about PowerBook.
