Bryan Villados replied to Kristofer Holmquist's discussion Apple IIc prototype identification help
"This is somewhat of an old topic to be replying to.... Three years since the last update! Anyway, I was able to duplicate the two pieces in the Apple IIc prototype mentioned in this thread. If you are interested in making your own Apple IIc…"

Bryan Villados replied to Lim Thye Chean's discussion Disable AppleTalk in the group Pre-Mac Goodness
"It has been centuries since I've touched an Apple IIgs. My guess here is that in Finder, you must have selected an AppleTalk device in the past, and GS/OS remembers it. If you don't have anything connected to the printer port, I believe…"

Apple II Modem-ers

The 1980s was a period of the Hayes Micromodem II and Novation Apple Cat II. It was a period of the BBS and later AE lines and Cat-Fur/Disk-Fur. It was a period of THE SOURCE. Share your experiences in modeming on the Apple II.

FOR HIRE: electronics guru to build a kit

I'm looking to hire an electronics guru who would build an electronics kit for me. The project is IDEFile - an electronics kit that basically takes an IDE hard drive and make an Apple Lisa or Apple III think the drive is an Apple ProFile drive.http://john.ccac.rwth-aachen.de:8000/patrick/idefile.htmI have an Apple Lisa 2/10 that is in need of a hard disk. The 10MB internal drive finally gave out. You can't find these drives…See More

Timbotronik commented on Bryan Villados's group Apple II Modem-ers
"Hi Bryan! The first serious upgrade for my //c in the mid/late 80's was the Apple 1200 baud modem. I got this as a kid on Guam, and due to the heavy military base presence there was a good number of free BBSs to visit. I prefered the game…"

Triceretops77 replied to Bryan Villados's discussion For auction - an empty iPod box!
"I recently discovered (while doing research for an article I was writing on the topic) that Apple actually lets you know exactly what the carbon footprint of all their products are. They recycle and minimize packing materials whenever possible.…"

Macintosh II PRAM Battery replacement

"On my Mac II, what I did was cut the battery but leaving the leads in-place. Then, I soldered in-place a battery holder that I removed from a dead IIfx logic board, attaching the holder to the leads left by the old battery. I did the same thing on…"

Lars (WhyOSX) replied to Bryan Villados's discussion Power Macintosh Color Classic
"A challenge it is, but why should something out of a 630 interfere - they are TV/AV machines!? This project can be one of trial and failure, but of course I wish you good luck."

Bryan Villados replied to Leo Titus LeBron V's discussion Need a Digital Audio Power Supply

Bryan Villados replied to Bryan Villados's discussion Power Macintosh Color Classic
"It looks like one huge challenge is getting the right power supply - to increase the power to support the 5300 board. Reading around, if I use a low-quailty LC 630 power supply, it would cause video interference. The writer continues to say that a…"

Lars (WhyOSX) replied to Bryan Villados's discussion Power Macintosh Color Classic
"That is freaked out ! And the idea of adding a 500 MHz upgrade tops it. Then this machine may have new cooling problems, but he will solve them. Once you have the 5300 (about 100 MHz; the one I have is 94 MHz fast) in, you may find a 275 MHz board…"

Bryan Villados replied to Bryan Villados's discussion Power Macintosh Color Classic
"I'll have to read more about the upgrade, but I think this kit is not exactly just a logic board swap upgrade. It is technically true that the board will not fit the current CC case, but I think that's why the kit includes the backplane…"

I lived in Mililani Town many years ago. It was between 1977 and 1980 and I attended elementary school at the time. I don't think I even knew of computers back then!
