My CC has a very noisy fan and hard drive. I want to make it as quiet as possible. I have tired a few SSD solutions (SCSI to CF) but they either don't work at all, will only work as a non-boot drive…Continue

"What about the quiet fan information? I have put an SSD in my Colour Classic but the fan is much noisier than the drive so I need a quiet fan, John mention that his ill-fated fan was really quiet. ctb"

A Silent Color Classic?

My CC has a very noisy fan and hard drive. I want to make it as quiet as possible. I have tired a few SSD solutions (SCSI to CF) but they either don't work at all, will only work as a non-boot drive or won't physically fit. Does anyone have a purchasable solution? That is, a solution that I can buy today, I have had a few solutions suggested that use hardware you can't buy anymore? As for the fan, is there a fan out there that will fit and is quiet? Will both of these be worthwhile? For example,…See More

"It's your USB Floppy drive. It's a Windows-Style, so it won't work with 800k disks."

"I would think anything with an Apple branded internal drive would support 800k disks. External USB drives don't. I would expect the Wallstreet with an internal floppy module to support 800k floppies. A Lombard not so much. The Wallstreet was…"

Newbie introduction

Let me introduce myself, I have been using an Apple II since 1983 and a Mac user since 1991 with the purchase of an LC with 2e Card (I wonder how many people made that transition), I never saw the need to venture to the MS darkside. I have been stockpiling a few Apple II bits for a while but as part of a pile of Apple II stuff I rescued from an e-waste disposal centre was a fair few early Mac bits so I am going to try and get some of them going for nostalgia. The grander plan is to get my Apple…See More
