Anyone have a working PB 165c out there? Im having major issues and I can't work out the issue. I believe the FSTN displays are junky after all this time - anyone had any experience?

Wow! What a great find. I had an ImageWriter when I lived in share accommodation back in the day. If I had to print late at night, I used to put a big cardboard box over it, then cover the whole lot with blankets before hitting the Print button be...

Profile Information

When did you get your first Mac?
IIsi - around 1990?
How many Macs do you own?
10: Mac Plus (no mouse), Colour Classic, Grape iMac, G3 Yosemite, G4 Sawtooth, iMac (flat panel), iBook G4 12", mini (G4, broken), AppleTV, iMac (Intel 20")
Where do you live?
Canberra, Australia
I first started using a Mac in 1986 when the company I started working for had two Plus's and two SE's (with 20MB hard drives!) networked using something called TOPS and connected to a ... (wait for it) laser printer. I learnt how to use the Macs never having used any sort of computer before and became the office guru. I bought a Mac IIsi when they came out, and followed this with a variety of work loaned Macs up till a Quadra 840AV. Then there was the dark period. I started working for a company that was exclusively Windows and this was the around the time that Apple seemed to have completely lost its way. I bought a PC for home and gave away all my Mac gear - Apple scanners, Quicktake cameras, the IIsi, etc. but I kept my Newton MessagePad 120 and 2100 :) I passed up OS X intro for XP and it wasn't until I needed a laptop that I thought about getting a Mac again - the iBook with 10.3 turned me back around and was shortly followed by a Mac mini, then an intel iMac which is my main computer today.

You must be kidding about 30" displays and Mac Pros -- it will be many years before I would consider them cheap. I'm surprised what G5s like mine still get three years later. Too bad for us collectors that Macs keep their value for such a long time.
