"You must have a ROM01?  They are pretty noisy, electrically.  The ROM03 is much better about that."

"Yep, the PB G3 will go all the way back. @Derek, the problem for the USB disks is they can't compensate for the rotational speed differences in the different track zones.  With a suitable controller, any hardware could be made to read the…"

"Your GSOS install originally had installed AppleTalk support.  You'd have to remove a bunch of files to disable it - or you can just tell your GS that you've got Appletalk set up.  Back on your control panel, set slot 1 to…"

JustSomeGuy replied to Hamilton's discussion Help - I need a ProDOS 1.2 Floppy in the group Pre-Mac Goodness
"No, it will tolerate 48k.  It assumes 64k (there is a comment in the code... "doesn't everyone have 64k these days?" which dates back to the early 90's) but 48k will work."

JustSomeGuy replied to Hamilton's discussion Help - I need a ProDOS 1.2 Floppy in the group Pre-Mac Goodness
"ADT (non-Pro) will tolerate 48k.  The streaming audio idea will work - but again, programs will need to fit within the 32k of the receiving machine."

@Kathryn - yep, I'm a big II fan. Macs are nice and all, but the real vintage Apples go aaaaaaaaaall the way back. Option8 did a nice job on that anachronistic Mac didn't he?

Ok, fine, thank you. I have a DOS 6.2.2/Windows 3.1 set of disks for the Performa 630 DOS and its 486/66 card - may these do with the 286, too ?

I didn't get it working with the 630, although there is the original manual. They write about how to use the Windows, but not where to put the components or how to arrange them. The floppies contents are supposed to be ok, all the disks were readable. And for System 7 there is a switching cdev. I will have to install a 7.5 on this IIvx (fits in the cx as well) firstly. The cx has 7.5.3 installed.

I just left a comment for a nearly one year old pic I made; this is it as a reminder: http://retromaccast.ning.com/photo/my-first-mac
"To JustSomeGuy - no Photoshop was used,
but a great software called the 'GraphicConverter'
by Mr. Thomas Lemke or his Lemkesoft.de/GraphicConverter
Compared to other graphic apps this will give you many of
'professional' apps options to work on your photography."
