I agree, the coolest lamp ever!

I have an older Belkin USB wireless adapter that I use on my older computers, it's worked fine on a 500 MHZ iBook, and a 700 MHZ iMac. It looks like the one on the bottom of the page on this link, the one that is at an angle, not the one that stan...

PRAM "You're going to miss me when I'm gone!"

What is PRAM, who uses PRAM, for what? Who Cares: Stored settings? Clock time if the laptop battery drains. Hmmm. I don't really need to worry about that if my G5 PPC clock battery dies. It stays plugged in, right? It's not like I'm going to lug that huge cheese grater to work, or on vacation with me. Well, I would if I were going on a really long vacation, but that's not the point.

PRAM is not just for clock setting. Or even time zone, or even internet settings. Seems all kinds of thing go scr… Continue

I Earned My Nerd Status Back?

Bouncing dock. Missing dock icons. Question mark icons in the dock. Can't reset dock preferences. Can't place icon in the dock, dock hides and won't come back. Can't drag items to trash before dock hides again and won't reappear until item is released. It's kind of a Hide & Seek behavior on the desktop.

I was beginning to think that my machine had some kind of new Dock Hide & Seek virus. The Dock would launch, and be up for about 3 seconds, then hide. I could not make it appear,… Continue

I Was a Apple Tech Support Nightmare.

Sorry Apple. I think I loose my Nerd status on this one.

Thank you to my sons for getting me a wonderful Christmas gift of an Apple TV. I spend Christmas, and the day after, at work, Bummer. But, it was much less a bummer since my boys drove down to my station and spent the day with me and my Bo at the station. My boys know that anything that comes in an Apple box is a fantastic gift for me. They made me the proud owner of an Apple TV, and I couldn't wait to play with it and see what it could d… Continue

First Terminal Command! Newton and Pismo Agree To Talk!

Wow! Finally!

I finally got my Newton 2100 and my Pismo to communicate. After trying multiple times I finally decided to read the directions. Yep, I had to read directions, step by step. I downloaded the Newton Connection software for OS X, and hooked up my Keyspan USB to Serial adapter, and my Serial Adapter for my Newton and followed the instructions that came with the NCX software.

The only thing I did differently was the terminal command for setting the BaudRate. I set it to… Continue

Almost - NIB Pismo

With all the NIB auctions of Retro Mac and Apples on eBay I have been wishing for a NIB Pismo to surface but thought it would be unlikely. I finally saw an auction for a maxed out, tricked out, low mileage Pismo and I could not stop myself. I didn't even wait for the auction to play out, I took the sure-thing route and hit the Buy Now button to claim my dream machine. THE Pismo of my dreams. My highest regarded machine next to… Continue

Yeah, it's kinda weird, but I get the same small amount of pride when I'm fixing a problem on the mac?? Some of my family are system testers with windows based pc's but will never touch the innards of their machines. I'm finding I like to play around with the hardware more than anything!! I've got a lot to learn, though.

Cheers for the invite :)

Your 20th anniversary Mac is wonderful. I don't have one of these YET in my collection but I sure do want one. It looks in great condition. Did you get it new and is it complete? Great photos!

Thank You for your kind words. I love "Robby The Robot" from the 1956 sci-fi classic "Forbidden Planet". This is probably the first famous movie robot. I always wanted one of these. There have been many different versions produced over the years. These are diecast and came out a few years ago in Japan.

Hi !
I found a download (!) of a very interesting software from 1990, it really is Photoshop 1.0 !
http://www.grenier-du-mac.net/fiches/applications/photoshop.htm
This site is in French, but the downloaded file is in English then.
Klick on the little 'Télécharger' (in green letters) and get the .sit-file.
There are a lot of games available, just click on the terms underlined.
I simply googled for "classic mac games free download" and found lots of games.
