Little bit about me (and Macs)...
I started using Macs in 1984. My first machine was the Macintosh LC630. I loved the machine, the philisophy that was behind its operating system. That's how my love affair with the Macintosh started... After couple of years I bought Power Macintosh 7300 wit 17" monitor. I used it to design my first web sites and that's how my adventure with graphic design started. One could say – all because of Apple...
I own now the 24" iMac, the 15" unibody MacBook Pro, but also have 4 vintage Macs in my household: one Classic II, one Performa 475, one clamshell iBook and by beloved Cube. The Cube is enhanced with 1.5 GHz G4 porcessor, GeForce 3 graphic card and 20" Apple Cinema Display. All oldies work fine. I could even establish a small LocalTalk network between the Classic II and Performa 475 lately. It was fun to use the Chooser again...
I admire your work – the podcast and this website. You're doing great job – preserving what's dear to a lots of people's hearts.

- Du kannst Deinen 475 auch mit 8.1 betreiben, dann mit "extended" formatierten Platten beliebiger Größe (System 7 erkennt max. 4GB).

- Was mich am meisten ärgert, ist die 486-Karte im Performa 630 - die spielt einfach nicht mit. Jetzt habe ich noch so'n Teil für einen 6100 ersteigert, die Karte ist aber noch unterwegs; die beiden Rechner laufen mit 7.5.5 bzw. 7.6.1.

Also, in diesem Fall kann das Netz auf verschiedene art und weise konfiguriert werden. Ich habe nur die zwei uralten Computers und habe die mit einem seriellen Kabel vernetzt (RS-422, für €12 auf eBay kannst du kaufen). Dieses Kabel steckst du in den Druckerport ein. Kannst auch ein AsanteTalk Gerät kaufen (http://www.asante.com/products/CardsAdapters/AsanteTalk.asp). Das Gerät verbindet Ethernet-Netz mit LocalTalk-Netz zusammen. Dann hoffentlich werde ich auch das Internet auf beiden haben. AsanteTalk hat einen Ethernet-Port und einen LocalTalk-Port. Wenn du mehrere LocalTalk Geräte mit der modernen Netzwerk verbinden möchtest (z.B. LaserWriter Drucker oder andere Macs), sollst Du weitere LocalTalk-Adapters (http://www.birkhofer.ch/giveaway/localtalk.jpg) benutzen.
Du kannst keine Ethernet-Karten in den Classic II einstecken, weil er keine dazu dienenden Slots hat. Kannst aber in dem LC 475 eine LC-PDS Ethernet Karte z.B. von Farallon benutzen. Ich habe eine auf eBay gekauft aber die funktioniert nicht (wahrscheinlich wegen Alter)...

C II und 475 gibt's hier auch, und ein paar andere.
Karten hab' ich reichlich...
Welche paßt überhaupt in den C II ? Der ist doch so schon rappelvoll !
