My first mac purchase was a used PowerMac 8100 @ 110mhz. My first Apple was a //c in 87. I should have waited a year huh?
How many Macs do you own?
16+ various compact Macs from 128K to Classic II. NO SE/30 GRRR!!!! Anybody want to trade theirs for a double-floppy SE? Or two? *CRICKETS* Also two kalyway hackintosh PCs: 2.8ghz Core2duo and 3.2ghz Core2quad. No SE/30
Hi Bryan!
The first serious upgrade for my //c in the mid/late 80's was the Apple 1200 baud modem. I got this as a kid on Guam, and due to the heavy military base presence there was a good number of free BBSs to visit. I prefered the game boards ...
The 1980s was a period of the Hayes Micromodem II and Novation Apple Cat II. It was a period of the BBS and later AE lines and Cat-Fur/Disk-Fur. It was a period of THE SOURCE. Share your experiences in modeming on the Apple II.
Congrats John on your purchase! I'm stalking craigslist for my own... You're right about the Mini 9 it's the best for hackintosh, all the hardware devices are supported out of the box. FYI the Dell Vostro A90 is a repainted Mini 9 (it's the boring...
I don't think anybody has posted this link yet:

"JJ Sonic" hooked up his Apple IIe last October and has been hacking hard since then. He takes terrific screen photos, these are so much better than emulator screen...
Thanks for our feedback on my Voyager record. Was the basis of a failed feature film pitch to WB and sorta adapted itself as my avatar soon after. Reconfigured the record's design as my website banner as well. Http://www.susannaspeier.com
Love your old school page design, btw...
I can't seem to send a message privately to you through ning unless you're on my "friend" list. So, I'll put the request here and work out the friend thing. (grin)
Any chance you could hook me up with #4? I'm a programmer and would love to see where these things came from.
well... it is the stolen from apple logo if you went into the debugger and typed a certain hexadecimal it would show up on the desktop. Steve jobs interned to use it if he took the clones to court.
Thank you for the generous offer. We even have someone in our mac user group who is still using an imac with os 9. Tried to get here to upgrade, but she is to comfortable and does not want to learn something new. This offer will help her also if her computer needs a clean install. Thank you again.
I know I was lucky to have 64mb on my 486, but remember that my dad was into computers and they had a lot of spare parts. It originally had only 16 when they bought it but the mother board was very expandable. I had a lot of fun with it. I guess the only reason why win98 ran half decent was because of the enormous amount of memory I was able to put into it.
Right now I am running two macbooks. One of the last white ones and one of the late 2008 aluminum ones. I had a blueberry imac, a indigo imac, a g3 powermac blueberry, a dual usb ibook and a beige g3 7600. the powermac and the indigo imac I am donating to my sisters who never had a computer before. Everything else I had to give away for lack of space to keep them running. So sad, but such is life you know.
Thanks for commenting.
Thanks for asking - how did you know that I've been needing a little push on that project? So many projects so little time! The "new" GS is running fine - the old one is still pretty much an empty box. Lately I've been spending what free time I have on trying to learn Cocoa and Xcode and a little Filemaker on the side (and other "little" projects) so I'm a bit spread out and my focus is easily distracted. I have made only small strides that's for sure! The GS has taken a back burner but it's right here where I can admire it every day. It's all fun and there's really no rush - that would take away the fun of the journey!
Love your page by the way!
I would say I'm more of a hobbyist as well, although I wouldn't mind doing some professional stuff with it. ;-) I've got two synths and a few computers I work with. I've been messing around for a few years with GarageBand and it's done me well, but I think I've hit the wall with it currently (especially with no built-in MIDI out). I've been looking at more of the open source music production apps out there and they do look promising. I've got Ardour running on my iMac G5 and I have some free software synths I've found, and they seem to have worked for me. I'm also using LMMS on GNU/Linux and it's been fun.
Hope to hear from you again soon. I'd love to hear some of your stuff. :-)
