"I can attest to that - I've got an eMac right here happily dual-booting Leopard and Linux with 2GB RAM - twice the "officially" supported amount."

"Yes, a 266MHz DDR 1GB DIMM should work fine. According to EveryMac, this model eMac officially supports just 1GB of RAM total, but others have found it will recognize and use 2GB of RAM."
