Old School Hardware Repurposed! Apple II, C64, Atari 800xl

The Shawks.net podcast from Mongodillo Studios had an episode where the geek of the SHC (Shark Haters Club) explained how their high tech surveillance equipment came from.

It's a surprisingly accurate view of what these machines could mean to a younger generation:

Gizmodo Goes Back in Time to 1979

Gizmodo popped up a whole set of articles based on products and technologies from 1979 - The original Apple, the apple ][+ and many many other other products and technologies are discussed. It isn't in great detail but does tend to have some great pictures.

A fun read at Gizmodo '79

The End of An Era - Compuserve Shuts Down

The original Compuserve service was shutdown today by AOL. Although email addresses are still usable on new servers, it's no longer.

Get more info here

This used to be the core of EVERYTHING. AppleLink and all.

I'm kinda shocked it was still alive this long.

Earl Evans' - Retrobits Podcast - http://retrobits.libsyn.com/

This podcast covers older systems - generally before the IBM PC but slips occasionally and covers both history, details and what Earl likes to call "Modern Day Fun". What you can do with them now or what things yo… Continue

Missed Out....

Because I'm polite, I just missed out on a free Mac Plus with carrying bag.

Bummer. I'd have even paid something (nominal) for it.

Yes, I suppose you could say that I used to own the G4. But, it's on my network, and I provide the tech support, so I still consider it to be at least partly mine. =)

Yeah, and I don't need any help getting in trouble. As the amount of time I spent grounded in my room could validate, I did quite well in the getting in trouble part. I could never leave the my Retro home. Those machines are pretty, and shiny, but they do not have the style of a 6400, or a G3 black body PowerBook. And, not a one of them has a cool trackball like the 100s. Sheez!
