Hello RetroMacCast!This is Dan from
Info-Mac and
System 7 Today. I've been using Macs since 2000, but feel like I've been using them my entire life. I have lost count of the number of Macs I own somewhere in the 80s, I believe the number to be around 87. Below are some of the more interesting systems I own:
PowerBook Duo 2300c My PowerBook Duo 2300c, one of my many Duos, is complete with 56 MB of memory and Mac OS 7.6.1. This Duo is near mint condition, as well as it's full size Dock Plus, Apple Mini Dock, and several Micro Docks, including a rare Ethernet Micro Dock from Newer Technology.
PowerBook G3 Kanga My PowerBook G3 is my main notebook computer, for taking notes in classes or studying in the library. It features 96 MB of memory, 10 GB hard drive, and Mac OS 9.1. With an Oirnoco Gold card, this PowerBook attracts attention in public spaces on campus.
Mac Pro Quad Xeon My current primary system, this 2.66 GHz Mac Pro features 4 GB of memory and 450 GB of storage. Most Info-Mac development goes on here, as well as design projects for classes and of course games.
Power Macintosh 8600 My Power Mac 8600 features a 400 MHz G4 processor upgrade from Sonnet, 256 MB of memory, a 10 GB, 10,000 RPM hard drive, an ATI Radeon 7000, and an Apple FireWire PCI card. All of this runs under Mac OS 7.6.1. Yes, it
is awesome!
Power Macintosh 8100 The web server for System 7 Today is a Power Mac 8100 with a 240 MHz G3 upgrade from Newer Technology, a 10 GB, 10,000 RPM hard drive, and 256 MB of memory. It runs Mac OS 7.6.1 and Apple Share IP 5.0.2. This is one reliable server, powering System 7 Today since May of 2006, and never needing a restart due to a crash.
Motorola StarMax 4000 This Mac clone is an oddball in my collection. Most people think it's a PC, but are surprised to find it running Mac OS 7.6.1.
Quadra 630 My Quadra 630 comes complete with A/V inputs and a TV Tuner card. It makes a great television and records clips surprisingly well. It runs Mac OS 7.6.1 of course.
