I went to the thrift store for a pot lid, saw this poor Quicksilver and took it home. It's in good shape, though it didn't have any RAM (I needed to order PC133 for my Cube anyway). 733MHz model, 40 and 80GB hard drives, DVD-RW drive, and a graphics downgrade to a Rage 128. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it just yet, but I'm excited for the possibilities. A new GPU and…Continue

This is a tutorial on how to build a mini Mac Classic using a Raspberry Pi. The colour they chose for their case is a bit off ;-)
The case design not supper faithful to the original Macs but it is okay. I have 3D printed them in white and am going to spray paint mine in beige.Continue
This is the downstairs where the arcade games will be. I'm trying to decide whether to call it Arcadia or Arc80s.
Here is the upstairs, the future home of my MacAttic…
Got a few new Macs added.
First one is a humble SE/30, which needs a recap but otherwise is in good shape. Running 7.0.1, 300MB Quantum HDD, 16MB of RAM.
The second is more special.…Continue
It's official. After the November 2014 issue, print editions of Macworld Magazine will not be made. Here is a great article by former PC World editor Harry McCracken about the demise of Macworld. Digital editions will still be made and the website will still be online, but it won't be the same without the print versions of Macworld.…Continue

When I first heard this news, I thought immediately of the infamous picture of Steve Jobs standing in front of the marble IBM wall giving the middle…Continue
Thank you for welcoming me to this cool - retro - community! I was so pleased to hear my name in the welcome address in the podcast right after having submitted my candidacy (and which happened before I even saw the welcome email, that was awesome)!
I always loved Macs, always had one as the first computer I owned was a "Pizza Box" (LCII), it was in 1995. This wasn't a breakthrough in industrial design, but I was very happy to be able to write my term papers on such a cool UI at the…Continue

Hi all! I've used Macs on and off for years. First ones I used were in kindergarten, and I believe they were LCII's (not positive on that.) I still remember when the school got Bondi Blue iMacs, which were very different and seemed cool.
Didn't have any contact with a Mac (or anything Apple related) from about 2001 on, until I got my first iPod (a green 2nd Gen 4GB Mini) in the summer of 2005. Upgraded to an 8GB Touch Christmas of 2007, shortly after they'd come…Continue
