Hey, I just realized that not all of us may know about the Apple II podcasts out there. There are two Apple II podcasts that occur pretty regularly (certainly more regularly than if I did them).
1 MHz is Carrington Vanston's contribution documenting his hobby of messing around with Apple IIs. Although he covers news and people, the focus really seems to be on the experience, sharing his thoughts both good and bad on old software, games and books. A very entertaining speaker with a rather skewed view.
A2Unplugged is lovingly created by Ryan Suenaga from beautiful Hawaii. If I lived in paradise I probably wouldn't be doing a podcast, but I certainly expect that at least one Apple II would be with me. Ryan has been "involved" with the Apple II community for, I believe, decades now and has friends all over the Apple II universe. A2 Unplugged (or A2Unpugged if you look at his name tag) is a tremendous Apple II news resource and usually covers a technical topic in just enough depth to make you want to go out and pick up the book or start hacking code or hardware.
Both of these resources are treasures of the Apple II community and deserve your support if you have interest in these old machines.
I compiled a brief list of resources, including podcasts, in a recent blog post, "Getting started with the Apple II". If anyone can think of others, please LMK!
I hate it when sites do that. (Set the link color to be exactly like the rest of the text and pull the underline.) Are you sure you're the new guy here?
Yes, that's been irritating me a little too as I've been putting links into posts and wondering if anyone is actually finding them. I wonder if James is able to change that...
The problem is that both podcasts are so far in between, and rather inconsistent in quality. I am looking forward for perhaps someone like James and John (or someone here) to do something similar to RetroMacCast (Retro2Cast?), where it discuss news (eg those in A2 Central), hardware and software (there are probably too many software that can be discussed here), and eBay listing?
I agree, Lim. A weekly feature about using a vintage Apple II for modern tasks would be a good segment too. Kids and work preclude me from jumping into such an effort with both feet.
