Where great old Macs live again!

John

What's your best Thrift Store / Yard Sale / Side of the Road find?

I found a box of 45 800k floppies at a local goodwill the other day for $3. But my best find, ever was an Apple IIGS with a lot of cards in it for $10. A friend of mine found a iMac SE (600MHz) on the side of the road with nothing more wrong with it than a bad hard drive.

I found a 1984 128k mac in the box on the side of the road. I brought it home and it fired right up. It is in very nice condition. I have a small house so I don't have room to display it right now. It was a great find.

That's SWEET!

I can't imagine it tasting too good after being left on the side of the road...

That's the perfect way to scrump! (See you can learn things from British TV shows - for extra points, name the show)

Being Irish, I've watched a lot of British TV shows, but I am not able to tell you of any TV show involving the word 'scrump'.

It may be the name of a village character who squats under bins and leaves shoes for people to find.

It's from Red Dwarf (Makes sense now, dunnit?)

Here's a write up on the conversation.

Now, for anyone that hasn't followed the links to try to make sense of this. Scrumping is "stealing fruit" or maybe "finding" it along the side of roads. That's how it applies to this conversation!

Havnt seen red dwarf for a while now ...

How do you watch all these british shows in america ?

Our local PBS (Public Broadcasting) station has a thing for British Comedy and brings many over here. If they don't BBC America brings them. That's how I know that the British version of "The Office" is light years better than the US version and why the US attempts at "Coupling" and "Red Dwarf" simply were dismal aping of genius. (and no PBS never brought Coupling or The Office to us, but they do bring us Monty Python, Fawlty Towers, Keeping Up Appearances, Dr. Who, Last of the Summer Wine and many more)
