Hi David,

Yeah, my Lisas were also my first Mac, I used them almost exclusively in MacWorks until I moved up to the IIcx hackintosh. They were a gateway drug. :) After that, I used one to run Xenix so I could learn unix - that was before Linux existed, though I did run Coherent for a while after on a PC.

I look forward to your podcast. :-)

Hi Ray, thanks so much for the emulator, like a lot of other people, it's the closest thing I have to a real one - which was my first "Mac." I eventually sold my original one, with many other computers in my collection, due to money problems. I've owned I think at least four Lisa 2's, with the middle two both running the Lisa OS from Profile hard drives. Thanks for the comments. I especially feel bad about the Stan Veit one. I have the second one mostly ready; it just needs a final edit. I think I'm ready to start again. I love listening to my podcasts each week, especially the Retromaccast. I have so much to share too - I carefully state that I am going to start up both again. I want to make the Classic Computing one weekly too, but keep it to about twenty minutes. Talk to you again soon, and thanks again for the words of support. best, David

I looked at what Lisa Office System does while booting in terms of what functions in the ROM it used. It turned out that it didn't use very many of the ROM routines at all.

I then wrote C code that intercepted the ROM calls and implemented their functionality in C code.

I did that because I got sick of answering "Please, please, please, where can I download a ROM from?" with "Sorry, but as much as I'd like to, I'm not legally allowed to answer that question." :-)

Question: How'd you end up making LisaEm ROMless? Did you duplicate the function of the roms in fresh code?
