Where great old Macs live again!

I have a well used 333 mhz imac that was working before I upgraded the ram with a 128 mhz chip. I tried it on the bottom side of the processor board and booted it up. All I got was a red light. Then I tried it on the top side. Same thing. I put it back to original condition and tried it with the same red light on and now it will not shut off. I should have remembered the old saying "if it isn't broken, don't fix it."
Any ideas of what could have gone wrong other then an idiot working on it. It is pretty straight forward on how everything goes together so I do not see how that could be the problem.
Any ideas out there?
