With all this talk in the Apple rumor mill about an Apple "netbook" I just wanted to give props to the original netbook! Ahead of its time, I guess you could say.

I bought mine with a dead power board three or four years back. It took some doing, but a new board purchased on eBay and a bazillion small screws to disassemble and reassemble got it going again. The battery in the unit turned out to have two hours of life in it after all those years on the shelf.

They are great machines. I have mine running 8.6 and it is very nimble running period software, and even more bloated products like Office 2001. The 180MHz 603ev in it with a L2 cache is no slouch.

I pair mine with a StyleWriter 2200 from time to time, just because the setup is so cool — like an office in a briefcase.
