Where great old Macs live again!

.. a 'Mak' Makustov-cassegrain telescope by Meade that is :)

A great way to combined two hobbies, this scope is controlled with Starry Night 6 Pro software running on my Mac Book.
And at over 10 years old is still running strong.

I have a Meade Maksutov-Cassegrain Telescope and would like to know how you interface the macbook with the telescope.

As far as i know neither have a USB connector.

I thought Meade supplied AutoStar Suite v5.5 software

I use a Meade #505 connector set and USB to Serial converter cable from TRENDnet. It comes with drivers for both mac and PC.

The AutoStar Suite is PC only, so I've used the mac version of Starry Night Pro and also Stellarium with my Meade ETX scopes and Celestron Schmidt-Cassegrain (Cat) NextStar and Advanced GT mounts.

Now if I could ever find the software my other Newton could be a Newtonian :)

I still have Vixen GP DX mount with motors and it's own astro computer. The computer bit died and I never brought a replacement so I sold the TeleVue Genesis Apochromatic refractor that went on it. Much to my regret I might add.

I will look up the Mead connector. Thanks for the info.
