Welcome to the Apple IIGS Generation!

Hi, I am Thye Chean, and I am an Apple IIGS user and programmer. I have owned every version of Apple II except for Apple //c+ and the platimum Apple //e (with numeric keypad).

My favourite computer of all time is the Apple IIGS.

I operate the site Virtual GS ( that teaches kids PASCAL and BASIC programming using Apple IIGS emulation. I also operate a mobile software site of the same name ( which we do kids and retro software for mobile devices.

This page shows our love for the Apple IIGS and other Macs in this family - you are welcome to check out the photo albums and videos.

Woz story on UCSD Pascal P-System

Woz told me a story in email: "Apple at one point turned down the Pascal P-System. That very evening Bill Atkinson and myself hopped on a plane at our own expense and flew down to UCSD, where the P-System had been developed. We stayed with developers in their lab that whole night and incorporated Apple II disk routines and graphics routines. We brought it back and showed how useful and good this Pascal system was and Apple changed its mind."

Thanks! These are the photos of my 3 kids. Ding Wen, my eldest (8 years old), is already an Apple IIGS programmer. His program and source codes are available in Virtual GS web site.

Hello Lim Thye Chean, Welcome. I am not sure if you name is said with the family name first or last. Is Chean your first name or Lim? I looked at your site, and it's very interesting. I might try this myself. I always wanted to learn programing.

I would look on eBay, of course, and Craig's List in your area, but eBay would be the best place. Low End Mac has a list of re-sellers that deal in older Macs, that might be a good place to start looking. Oh yeah, there is a listing on Google groups that I joined called 'LEM' at this website:
I found this from a link at the Low End Mac website. They have private sellers, and buyers that offer what they want to sell or are looking to buy. Or try this link below.

Let me know if I can help.

Hi Kathryn, my surname is Lim. eBay in Singapore don't have any classic computers for sale, and others are primary US centric...

The site "Virtual GS" is designed for my 8 years old son - he is now a pretty good Pascal programmer, enough to write a game! Of course it will help any > 8 years old to learn program... :)
