Despite My Better Judgement...

Despite my better judgement, I now have a Bondi Blue iMac (Rev B, 233 Mhz, Tray Loader). It's cute, sounds good and teaches me patience.

When I first tried to turn it on, no luck. It had been in my trunk for a few hours and it's not the warmest place out here. I was a bit afraid that I might not be able to get it awake but figured that it would then become a project machine. (Not a big loss) Well, tonight it came alive and surprisingly is in good shape software-wise with 9.2.2 on it.… Continue

E-Machines EtherDock for the PowerBook Duo series

With a little more free time with the holidays, I thought I would showcase some stuff I have collected over the past few years. I have made quite a collection of docks for my PowerBook Duos. Although the concept of a lightweight notebook that can be docked to form a full size desktop is novel, I find the selection of mini and micro docks to be another interesting facet of the line. With out the docks, the Duo becomes a nearly enclosed computing system, with only a serial or modem to access the… Continue

On TARDISES or TARDI or however you spell that.

Ummmmm - the little glass VW Beatle ornament is not a permanent item on the TARDIS console. It was put there temporarily to keep a three year old from playing with it. Also, the figures are not arranged right now. I just got a BUNCH of them for Christmas, so they got thrown in quickly amidst the normal figures set up (again TEMPORARILY) until I got a chance to set them up on the top shelf. It really does look better than that normally! I didn't realize he was going to be showing it during the… Continue

Macworld Expo 2009 T-2 Days

Each of the previous years I've attended Macworld Expo, I've nervously made plans to arrive the day before the keynote. If anything were to go wrong, I wouldn't risk missing Monday registration and therefore, I'd miss the keynote too. This year I decided to fly in a day early and not risk it. This would have to be the year Steve Jobs isn't delivering the keynote. The flights today were trouble-free and I took care of getting my badge this afternoon. …
