The Apple TechStep Diagnistic Tool

These handheld diagnostic tools were sold to Apple service people for about $1000 (USD). They load their tests from ROM 'packs', two of which were included with the unit. They can test almost everything on a Macintosh from the ADB ports to the FPU using a built-in 4 x 16 character black and white LCD. The TechStep is connected to the host Macintosh via several cables that connect to each port of the computer allowing…

Puck Mouse Rocks (In My Opinion)!

I have bought 8 hockey puck mice (or mouses, not sure the plural for the computer mouse) on eBay. I have seen TONS of people hating on the little puck, but I have to disagree with the 94.9% of the world that hates this little guy. I have small hands (of course, I'm 12 years old) and I love it. My favorite part of the mouse is the design. Quoting an iMac expert from an episode of the Computer Chronicles' iMac G3 review, "It is a little uncomfortable to the hand, but it is overall a great…

iWitness - Mac maker Jerry Manock remembers his old boss: Steve Jobs

Burlington Mac maker Jerry Manock remembers his old boss: Steve Jobs.

Walking back from lunch one day, I said, Steve, you paid me $1800 for the Apple II, and it’s getting to be more and more popular, and I really think I ought to have a royalty on that. I ought to get, like, a dollar a unit, because $1800 wasn’t all that much. He…

Sad days, but have to move on.

Hi everyone, I started clearing out my Mac collection a couple of months ago. Have moved a fair bit on, but currently selling two of my favourites of the lot. My Blue Dalmatian iMac and my Apple IIe with original monochrome monitor on ebay in Australia. It's one of those times when you think, well it was fun while it lasted, but unfortunately we need the space and I am keeping a few for the odd occasion when I can sit down and use them (rare these days).  I'm sure most of you have been…

Wow Brittle plastics! (PowerBook 140)

i'm finding that i have to be really careful with all this retro apple stuff, the plastic sometimes just crumbles in my hands!   i ordered a Powermac 7500 from oregon,  shipped to michigan…    Man when i opened it up , everything in there was broken up. even the plastic power button.

This power mac 140 i am working on, trying to remove the battery was a chore, it had slightly cracked and expanded,

the plastic was crumbling on the battery,   and when i opened the…

Just won an ====>Apple Power Macintosh G5 2.7 DP (PCI-X)

the only thing that worries me is this:

this model adds a liquid cooling system that replaces the traditional heat sink. Custom configurations also were available.

but they show it working... so if it has a leak, i might still be…
