Computer Shopper Meets Steve and Steve Over Apple Beginnings

Stan Veit of Computer Shopper (the magazine) fame has posted a great feature article on his site about Jobs and Woz going to show off the new Apple II. Despite the amazing demo, Stan explained a business lesson...

Note: Stan was in the business before there WAS a business. Computer Shopper was magazine publishers dream - a magazine that people BOUGHT for the advertisements. It was like a small phone book of every company software/hardware that built (or promised to build) anything .

Computer Shopper!! Also a nerd's wet dream.... I could browse those ads all month and not get bored!!!! Remember the sweet Gateway ads? LOL! And the original content was often WAY better and more technical than the PC World / PC Computing crap at the time. The only thing PC Computing had going for it was Penn Gillette on the back page cracking me up every month. F___ Dvorak I hate that know-it-all poser.

I subscribed to Computer Shopper after my //c finally couldn't keep up with the rest of the world and I figured I needed to bone up on the PC market. The articles made me a PC expert before I ever owned one.

This article is absolutely incredible. The granny/pants story is HILARIOUS, and the kicker at the very end is real food for thought.... friggin Jobs man I tell ya. Losing respect for the dude every day.......

It does help explain why Steve generally has two opinions about him - often based on whether you worked for/with him or just see what he creates. Either he's a bastard (because honestly, he's tough to work for) or a genius (for having a vision that produces interesting/beautiful products)
